About

As a rising junior in college, it finally came time to move off campus. Which means...no more meal plan. To be honest though, I am not that upset about loosing access to a 24-hour dining hall when it means I get to choose my own food and how it is prepared. Not a bad trade-off. However, the problem remains that I still do not know how to cook for myself. Therefore, this blog and this summer is the beginning of learning how to cook and live more sustainably in general.

My whole life I have been an environmentalist but this past year I have learnt that sustainability is a lifestyle and food is just a part of the bigger picture. My dream is to become an architect, specializing in the planning and design of New Urbanism communities. In a nutshell, New Urbanism is an urban design movement which promotes green practices such as urban farming and walkable neighborhoods**. So...from learning how to be an urban agrarian to sustainable building practices, I plan to share all the mishaps, failures, and successes along the way. Overall, this blog will serve as a testament that even a busy college student (with a double major, a job, and an internship) on a college budget can implement sustainability into his/her lifestyle.
